The Harang Drainage Development Scheme was cleared by the SFC of the MOWR at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.81 crores during the 9th Five Year Plan. The work had been taken up by Brahmaputra Board for execution. But due to escalation of cost of land fixed by the district authority and modification of the construction drawings by the CWC, original estimate had to be revised and the revised estimated value was Rs. 30.49 crores. The revised estimate was approved by the TAC in its 79th meeting held on 24.5.2002.

All works of Harang Drainage Development Scheme is completed by March'2011. An area of 7900 ha of agricultural land will be benifitted by this scheme.
